Dr Clare Davison

Clare is passionate about promoting and supporting physiological birth.

Clare’s midwifery philosophy guides her midwifery practice, which is the belief that birth is a normal physiological process that most women can achieve without intervention.

Clare believes that the majority of women can birth their babies without intervention and if there is a problem, it will present itself.

“Like the ripple in the still pond, if all you see is normal physiological birth in its wide range then it is usually obvious when things start to move in an abnormal direction. I am there watchfully waiting and continually assessing but without intervening unless I need to.”

“I trust women and I trust birth.”

With nearly 30 years of experience, Dr Clare Davison is a respected health professional

Clare has excellent links to the maternal and child health industry and community throughout Western Australia, nationally and internationally.

Clare has experience in all maternity settings but her passion is providing continuity of midwifery care to women at home, She loves getting to know women, their partners, family and even their pets! She believes that community based continuity of midwifery care should be offered to all women!

Clare knows the difference midwifery care can make. She received continuity of midwifery care during the birth of her two children. Community based midwifery care was the norm when she had her son Jake who was born in the UK in 1998.

In 2001, Clare moved to Western Australia. In 2003 she became pregnant again and was shocked to find that community based midwifery was not easily available in Australia. Luckily, she found a midwife and welcomed her daughter, Tallulah, at home in 2004.

Clare’s partner Andrew is regularly seen wearing t shirts promoting midwifery care and homebirth!

Clare is also passionate about midwifery research, promoting and supporting physiological birth.
